Pop-X Hong Kong 2025
Cross-Over of Interoperability and Programmable Cryptography, Unify Ethereum and Build Beyond
Pop-X Hong Kong is a three-day Research House followed by a one-day meetup, taking place in April during Hong Kong Web3 Festival 2025. This event brings together researchers and builders with expertise in “Cross-L2 Interoperability and Programmable Cryptography” to share progress, discuss challenges, network, and explore collaboration opportunities.
Under the Pop-X Hong Kong initiative, we’re going to organize:
A three-day Research House (April 6th - 9th)

One day of meetup to gather together stakeholders who care about interoperability and UX issues (April 8th)

Pop-X Hong Kong is the first event organized under ETHDimsum, a collaboration between DappLearning and Panta Rhei, following our successful initiatives at Shenzhen Research House and MEV Shanghai. Our mission is to connect Ethereum research and tech talents within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
We’re thrilled to have UETH join forces in organizing this event, offering essential support to make it possible.
Why Cross-Over of Interoperability and Programmable Cryptography?
Interop and UX: The Current Pressing Issues
Cross-L2 interoperability has long been a major pain point for the Ethereum community. While we celebrate the continuously dropping gas fees on rollups, we still struggle with fragmented assets, constant RPC switching, long bridging confirmation time, and security concerns with third-party bridges. Managing assets across multiple rollups remains frustrating, hindering Ethereum’s broader adoption.
Many infrastructure and application teams have been working tirelessly to improve interoperability and UX, making solid progress. However, they often face integration challenges when collaborating with other projects. After L2 systems like Aributrum, Optimism, and Polygon have accelerated interoperability within their own rollup systems, in February, the Ethereum Foundation launched The Open Intents Framework, bringing together teams across the ecosystem to tackle interoperability in a more unified way.
By the time of our event, The Open Intents Framework will have been in operation for two months—a perfect opportunity to evaluate its progress and discuss next steps.
Key Topics Include:
Evaluating The Open Intents Framework: Achievements and challenges after two months of operation.
Status of account-related standards (AA/EOA/SCA)
Wallets in Chain Abstraction
Solutions for solver networks
Unified rollup proof verification
Programmable Cryptography: The Next Frontier
Programmable cryptography refers to a second generation of cryptographic primitives that are becoming practical today. Primitives such as Fully-homomorphic encryption (FHE), Multi-party computation (MPC) and zkSNARKs allow us to perform general-purpose computation inside or on top of cryptographic protocols.
The emergence of zk-powered applications (zkDApps)—such as zkp2p, zkEmail, and zkTLS—is already inspiring researchers and developers. Cryptography is becoming more approachable, and its integration with Ethereum could reshape how we verify, compute, and secure transactions.
Potential topics:
Advancements in FHE, MPC, and zkSNARKs: Exploring new cryptographic capabilities.
Real-world applications of zkDApps: What’s cooking, what’s next
Ethereum’s roadmap for advanced cryptography: How will it shape the future of the protocol?
